— Authorities rescued two kittens from a Sacramento Zoo exhibit on Wednesday, bringing the total number of kittens rescued by the zoo to two.
Authorities were called to the zoo at 2:05 p.m.
Wednesday for an animal welfare violation and found the kittens and three other kittens in a crate.
Kittens are protected under the state’s “Kitten Protection Act” that prohibits the keeping of pets in confined spaces.
Animal control officials said a rescue party took the kittens to the Sacramento Animal Shelter for their welfare, and were then released.
The zoo says the kittens are now at the shelter’s care and are expected to be placed with foster homes.
