Posted September 11, 2018 06:04:03 A new Mormon Boudin Canyon has been designated as a national monument by President Donald Trump.
The Boudins Canyon, a popular recreation spot, was chosen after a public meeting.
“This designation gives us the opportunity to continue to develop this special place,” Trump said in a statement.
“It is a special place that has special meaning to me.”
A monument was also created for Native Americans.
A number of tribes have already announced they are interested in acquiring the land.
In 2017, President Barack Obama named the Boudina Canyon as one of the top 10 national parks in the United States.
Trump has not made a formal announcement on whether he will designate the Boulangerie as a National Monument.
The new monument is located near the Colorado River, a source told The Associated Press.
The area is considered one of Idaho’s most scenic and important cultural destinations.
